Tournament 2001

 

The tournament was held on Saturday, June 23, 2001 at Thomas Johnson High School in Frederick.

 

Thanks to the incredibly generous support of family, friends, neighbors, the corporate community and strangers, the day was very successful.

 

The goal was to raise enough funds for one annual $2,000.00 Memorial Scholarships at TJ High School.  That goal was more than tripled.  The Community Foundation deposit was over $6,700.00! 

 

The day started off cloudy and cool; however the threat of heavy rain, thunder and lightening never materialized.  Our angel did her job.

 

Mid-way through the day a moment of silence was held in honor of Jessica, Shawn and Nathaniel. 

 

It was an opportunity to reflect on keeping a balance in our lives.  The importance of love, family and safety were mentioned.

 

Our sponsors were thanked (please see list below), and door prizes were handed out.

 

San sang his song (see San's Song page) for the attendees.  It was a beautiful and powerful tribute to Jessica.  At the end of the song 20 butterflies were released.
